A true original: The Marolo distillery has reconstructed the vermouth recipe of pharmacist Domenico Ulrich from 1854. It uses wine and botanicals from Piedmont, as well as browned sugar instead of the caramel coloring commonly used today. Full-bodied, vibrant, and rich. Its bitter notes come from cinchona bark and hyssop; its intense color and balsamic notes from aging in wooden barrels. A refined, contemplative vermouth, particularly well-suited as a finale to a dinner.
