The Blowing Stone, Nettle & Blackberry Gin

The Blowing Stone' Nettle & Blackberry Gin is the fourth gin in the Ashdown series and a tribute to Alfred's first victory over the Danish Vikings. Based on the original London Dry recipe, distilled using a three-step process, it employs a blend of balanced botanicals that could be found locally in the Middle Ages, including nettle and blackberries, to create a sweet, aromatic, and fruity gin. This gin utilizes two key English ingredients: tender young nettles, which were used extensively in Anglo-Saxon and Viking Age cuisine, and ripe blackberries, considered a delicacy. Blackberry bushes were often used as a defensive line against invaders. On the palate, fragrant berries unfold first, with a delicate, sweet nettle note. A smooth mouthfeel and a long finish with fruit, citrus, and floral notes follow.
