Scalasaig Island Hopper Blended Malt Scotch Whiskey

The port town of Scalasaig, which gives the whisky its name, lies on the island of Colonsay. The Scalasaig "Island Hopper" evokes a voyage of discovery, seeking out the finest casks of mature single malt from distilleries around the Scottish islands and coasts. It is a blended malt made from various peated whiskies from Orkney and Islay, matured for 18 months in first-fill Spanish sherry Oloroso hogsheads before being blended. On the nose, it reveals maritime aromas and hints of toasted oak, followed by biscuit and gingerbread. On the palate, it is complex and again showcases its coastal character with a touch of flint, accompanied by rum-soaked fruit, floral barley, and salty sherry notes. A long finish with aromas of vanilla pods, milk chocolate, and peppery malt lingers on the palate. This smoky, sweet, and spicy whisky is well suited as an after-dinner drink.
