Riesling Kreid Weingut Rings 2019, 75 cl
CHF 129.00
In 2018, the Rings brothers produced their first Riesling Kreid, conceived as a tribute to their father. It comes from a prime section of the Saumagen vineyard, the old "Kreidkeller" plot. The vines, over 30 years old, grow on white limestone with iron-rich red soil in the subsoil, directly adjacent to the forest, benefiting from a cool microclimate. This Riesling is pure and bone-dry, just as the Rings father liked it. A large, complex, and concentrated wine that needs some time to open up or should be decanted: strong structure, firm palate, delicate creaminess (from aging on the lees), slightly smoky, hints of white peach and yellow stone fruit, white pepper and blackcurrant, herbal, citrusy, and mineral, with a cool, maritime character. You can practically taste the terroir on your tongue. Very small production, extremely limited availability. Robert Parker /The Wine Advocate / Stephan Reinhardt: "Tasted as a sample in April 2020, the 2019 Riesling Trocken Kreid (from the iron-rich Kreidkeller plot of the Kallstadter Saumagen) is very fine and complex on the perfectly ripe and elegant nose. On the palate, this is a round, mouth-filling, silky-textured yet nervous, chalky and highly finessed dry Riesling with great intensity, balance and remarkable Distinction. The finish is crystalline, incredibly refined and salty, full of tension and weightlessness. Made only for the second time after the 2018 firstling."
