Pintail Blended Malt, 10 years 2012, 70 cl
CHF92.00
The original Pintail, named after the gadwall with its distinctive pointed tail feathers, was first bottled and distributed in 1931 by the Perth-based wine and spirits merchant Matthew Gloag and Sons. The label has been revived in its original splendor, including the symbol of the flying duck. The various malts for this whisky were selected for richness and balance by Keith Bonnington of The Whisky Cellar, an independent bottling company, before being blended into a single Oloroso sherry cask, where they matured for 10 years. The resulting aromas of dark orchard fruits, cinnamon, and star anise dominate the nose. The palate is enveloped by dark chocolate, mocha, raisins, malted bread, and a hint of eucalyptus. Bottling without chill filtration ensures a full mouthfeel and rich flavor.
