Pettenthal Riesling Grosses Gewächs 2023, 75 cl
CHF92.00
The Pettenthal, the first historic vineyard site on the Roter Hang (Red Slope), is considered the steepest parcel in Rheinhessen. The soils, composed of red clay slate, sandstone, loam, and clay, lend the wine its distinctive character. The nose offers restrained fruit, dominated by notes of peach kernel, lemon, and grapefruit peel, while spicy aromas of pepper and dried herbs prevail. On the palate, the wine is compact and powerful with a creamy texture and lively acidity. The Pettenthal pairs beautifully with steamed fish in delicate, creamy sauces, as well as braised guinea fowl with sage and apricots. Our tip: decant before serving to unlock its full potential. 98/100 James Suckling points.
