Mechthild (white) 2013, 75 cl
CHF86.00
The matriarch and matriarch of Gut Oggau. A resolute, robust old lady who still guides the fortunes of the Burgenland clan and defies all of life's adversities like a gnarled oak against a storm. She has an open ear for everyone, but always follows her principles. She is the nostalgic "good grandma" whom one trusts, but can also be mysterious and polarizing. **** Mechthild comes from a vineyard approximately 60 years old, planted with Grüner Veltliner on limestone and slate soil. This elegant lady is very kind, but also polarizing, sometimes mysterious, and always profound. Further aging in the bottle will benefit her, allowing her expressive character to fully develop. The grapes are pressed in a 200-year-old timber press and, like all Gut Oggau wines, are bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without added sulfur. The wine matures for approximately 2 years in used 500-liter barrels on the lees.
