For this rum, Marx imported the highest quality sugar molasses from Nicaragua, which was blended with their spring water to create a homogeneous mass. Yeast was then added, and the mixture was gently fermented and distilled over four weeks. The rum was then aged for four months in new, dark-toasted French white oak barrels. The nose is greeted by intense, smoky tobacco notes, immediately suggesting a certain strength. The second surprise comes on the palate with a very long finish. A rum simply cannot be more persistent or intense. Vanilla, dried plum, and almond notes mingle with soft yet dominant smoky aromas. A characterful rum, perfect with a cigar, for example. No caramel coloring, no other additives—a true single-rum!
