Linkwood Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, 12 years 2008, 75 cl

The Linkwood Distillery first produced its light, fruity, and fresh Speyside single malt in 1824. The distillery's signature fruity aroma is achieved through the production of an ultra-clear wort and slow distillation in copper pot stills. This whisky matured for 10 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead before being finished for a further 2 years in a fresh red wine cask from the revered Château Lafite appellation. Warm aromas of spices, a touch of incense, and orange zest rise first to the nose and are followed on the palate by black tea, ripe figs, and red fruits. The finish is long and subtly scented with smoky almonds. This is an exclusive bottling for Baur au Lac Vins in collaboration with The Whisky Cellar.
