The Winkeler Jesuitengarten vineyard is one of the warmest sites in the Rheingau: situated near the Rhine and protected from cold air by a historic vineyard wall, it creates a climate conducive to optimal ripening. Riesling is among the most age-worthy white wine varieties in the world – this Grosses Gewächs from the traditional Wegeler estate, founded in 1881, is the best proof. Already extremely inviting, it will continue to develop beautifully. An open, captivating nose of yellow fruit, spicy and mineral with a hint of petrol. On the palate, it offers richness and a smooth texture, interwoven with mouthwatering acidity. Fantastic with smoked fish, pork chops or poultry in cream sauce, beetroot salad with goat cheese, sushi, and generally Asian cuisine with ginger.
