“Gian Annibale is an ambitious and, at the same time, sentimental project. It is a tribute to the successful and passionate life of my uncle, Gian Annibale, whose footsteps I have been privileged to follow in managing the Castello del Terriccio winery.” Quote from Vittorio Piozzo di Rosignano. Over 20 years ago, Gian Annibale Rossi di Medelana Serafini Ferri had the idea of planting the Petit Verdot grape variety on the Tuscan estate in close collaboration with a French winemaker. With the Addis and Tregge vineyards, totaling approximately 2 hectares, he had found the ideal plots to highlight the special characteristics of Petit Verdot: abundant fruit, spice, tannins, acidity, and complexity. With the Gian Annibale wine, Carlo Ferrini, Gian Annibale's only nephew and current head of the Vittorio Piozzo di Rosignano winery and oenologist, has succeeded in realizing Gian Annibale's vision of creating a magnificent new blend with the Petit Verdot grape as the main variety. Married with Cabernet Sauvignon, this exceptional wine displays a fragrant and spicy bouquet, with blackcurrants and blueberries taking center stage, along with a hint of black pepper. The palate is enveloped by an elegant yet dense texture, paired with a spicy note reminiscent of tobacco, juicy dark berries, and refined, silky tannins. Cheers to Gian Annibale!
