Once, over 30 distilleries crowded into the small fishing town of Campbeltown; today, only three remain, but the style of these whiskies is still highly sought after. This is a tea-spooned Glen Scotia, where often literally a drop of another whisky is added to a cask of single malt to protect a brand's intellectual property. Don't be fooled into thinking this isn't a typical Campbeltown: if you enjoy maritime and spicy notes and an oily texture, you'll love this whisky! This Campbeltown whisky matured for almost two years in a refill ex-sherry hogshead. Its complex character is evident on the nose, with aromas of distant coal fires, green olives, and a touch of toffee sweetness. On the palate, there's initial orange peel, followed by dates and muscovado sugar. The finish is spicy with hints of sea salt and black pepper.
