Breil Pur Gin

BREIL PUR, this Grisons "Organic Swiss Gin," has adopted the motto "ei dat nuot meglier" (translated from Romansh: there is nothing better). Produced near Brigels, this London Dry Gin is characterized by its pronounced juniper aromas, paired with a fresh bouquet of mint and citrus fruits. It is based on organic wheat and spring water from the Grisons mountains. The gin has a creamy texture on the palate and leads to a long, lingering finish. The botanicals used also come from the Swiss mountains and are hand-picked. These include alpine juniper, alpine roses, and chocolate mint. The remaining ingredients remain a closely guarded secret of Gion Candinas. This gin is suitable for a variety of cocktails but is also a true delight when enjoyed neat. The "flying brand ambassador" is the conifer bark moth. The caterpillars of this butterfly feed mainly on spruce needles, juniper, and pine needles—all aromatic components that also play a role in this gin. Award: Silver medal at the IWSC 2016.
