Al Chelo 2023, 75 cl
CHF 350.00
Al Chelo comes from an extremely steep, almost impossible-to-cultivate slope in Valdafoz near Corullón in the Bierzo region. Quartz, gneiss, and schist soils, oceanic influence, and the shade of chestnut trees combine raw power with cool precision. The wine embodies duality: opulence and freshness, depth and transparency. At the same time, it carries a strong emotional component—its name connects the traditions of two families and commemorates Chelo Palacios, mother of Ricardo Pérez Palacios. On the nose, it is cool and clear with dark berries, black cherry, floral notes, graphite, and wild herbs. On the palate, it is powerful and precise, with dark fruit, saline freshness, and fine-grained tannins. A vibrant wine with great aging potential. Ideal with dishes of depth and texture: braised lamb, game dishes with herbs and dark sauces, roasted mushrooms, wild mushroom risotto, or polenta with truffles. Decanting is essential when young. A wine with great aging potential that gains further complexity and elegance over the years.
